About this word search maker

Everything runs in your browser — no account, no watermark, unlimited puzzles. Words are placed automatically: Easy uses only left-to-right and top-to-bottom, Medium adds diagonals, and Hard also hides words backwards. Empty squares are filled with random letters (for Korean puzzles, with syllables from your own words, which makes them pleasantly tricky). Each “Shuffle again” produces a brand-new layout from the same words, so you can print several different versions for one class.

Frequently asked questions

Is it really free? Can I print an answer key?
Yes — free, unlimited and without watermarks or sign-up. For an answer key, tick “Show answers” (found words are highlighted) and print again; untick it to print the student version. In the print dialog you can also choose “Save as PDF”.
How many words fit, and what if one doesn't fit?
Up to 20 words per puzzle; each word must fit the grid (a 12-letter word needs at least a 12×12 grid). If a word can't be placed after many attempts, it's listed under the form as left out — pick a bigger grid or remove a word and it will fit.
Can I make puzzles in Korean or Spanish?
Yes. Latin-alphabet puzzles (English, Spanish including Ñ and accents) fill empty squares with random letters. Korean puzzles work by syllable and fill empty squares with syllables taken from your own words, which makes them satisfyingly tricky.
