How it works

Choose one of six sea creatures, then paint inside the outline with the brush — colors never spill outside the lines, so it is great for young kids. "Base color" fills the whole body underneath what you already painted, and the eraser turns areas back to white. When you press "Send to the sea", your creature dives into the ocean and starts moving the way its species does: fish and turtles swim and turn, jellyfish and octopuses pulse, crabs scuttle along the sand and shrimp dart backwards. Your own creatures never disappear while the page is open; the background is filled with recent drawings from other visitors around the world, which rotate over time. When you leave the page, your latest drawings are sent to the sea so other visitors can meet them too.

Frequently asked questions

Do other people see my creature?
Yes. While you are on the page, your creatures swim only in your own sea. When you leave the page, your latest drawings are uploaded and appear as background swimmers in other visitors' oceans for a while. No name or personal information is attached — only the colored picture itself.
Why did a background creature disappear?
The background sea always keeps about twenty creatures, rotating through recent drawings from visitors around the world — old ones swim away with a trail of bubbles as new ones arrive. Your own creatures are different: they never disappear while the page stays open.
Is it safe for young kids?
It is designed for that. Painting only works inside the creature outlines — there is no free drawing, no text and no chat, so nothing inappropriate can be written or drawn. Shared pictures are just colored versions of the same six outlines, with no names attached.
Can I save my creature as an image?
Yes — press "Save picture" to export your colored creature as a PNG with a transparent background. On phones and tablets the share sheet opens so you can save it straight to your photos; on a computer it downloads as a file.
